The Erosion House is an apartment complex that utilizes terraced balconies, shared outdoor recreational spaces, and airy living spaces to promote comfortable yet economical living. Due to the site’s location at the intersection of NW 32nd St and NW Third Ave, I decided to address the corner condition. I wanted to make sure the complex was accessible from both streets, so I placed the main entrance right on the corner. Above the corner entrance point lies the cubic terrace balconies, which appear to be eroded from the building and recede from the street. This provides privacy and noise reduction from passing traffic and pedestrians.
